Custodial Worker Supervisor

Location: Naval Base Kitsap - Navy Gateway Inns & Suites - Bangor and Bremerton

Pay Grade: NA-3566-02

Brief Description of Duties: This position is located at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites operation at Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton/Bangor. The purpose of the position is to supervise the housekeeping staff and to assist management in providing adequate and timely housekeeping services to guests. Performs a full range of supervision to include planning, work direction and administration for housekeepers. Conducts daily inspections of rooms and housekeeping carts. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of guestrooms noting any deficiencies and promptly advising supervisor of technical problem areas such as unsatisfactory conditions of quarters, furniture, maintenance required, and missing items from rooms. Conducts training on proper work methods and safety procedures. Responsible for the preparation of the daily housekeeping report. Schedules housekeepers by utilizing current property management system. Order cleaning supplies, materials and equipment used by housekeeping staff. Ensures equipment is properly maintained, stored and accounted for. Perform monthly/quarterly inventory as required. Investigate and report staff mishaps/accidents. Evaluate performance, recommends awards and/or corrective disciplinary actions. Interview and recommend applicants for selection or promotion. Cooperates in development of EEO Affirmative Action Plan.

Qualification Requirements: This position requires two years experience as a housekeeping leader or similar position in the hotel industry. Must possess the ability to supervise and instruct and perform the work with normal supervision. Must possess knowledge of VQ housekeeping and facility policies and standards; use and care of cleaning solutions; and safety, environmental and fire prevention regulations and practices Incumbent must possess basic math and reading skills and effectively communicate clearly both verbally and in writing using English. 

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check. May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license for travel to other facilities. Incumbent must meet the requirements for Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) within six months of employment and all requirements for housekeeping/custodial services as outlined in the Lodging Career Path Guide. Must have ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds is required. May be required to climb/descend stairs and properly placed stepladders.
